Osaka, Japan VIII Americamura Reptile Cafe & Last Day in Dotonbori

Today is my last day and a bit adventuring in Osaka. Lani and Blake have already travelled to Seoul and I will be meeting them there the next day. But first, I needed to check out this snake cafe.

Located in Osaka in my favourite suburb Americamura is the ‘Americamura Snake Cafe”

Yajima Building 4F, 1-8-11 Nishishinsaibashi, Chuo-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka 542-0086

This was another animal cafe I passed but didn’t have time to visit called Animeal.

Similiar to the Small Animal Rock Star cafe I visited yesterday in my last blog post, this was another hybrid Pet Cafe and Pet Store. This place specialised in all things reptiles but mostly snakes, which I absolutely adore if you couldn’t already tell from the tattoo.

I was so obsessed with this snake, the photos do not do it justice to just how stunning it was in real life. Its scales were literally iridescent, my favourite colour. I was in love. It was also really friendly and quite cuddly for a snake. This snake genuinely made me want to get one so bad back in Australia.

It also had this really cool pink tone that I was trying to capture in photos.

Next up was this cute little gecko dude. The faces he made we so damn cute I couldn’t stop smiling.

Just a happy little guy.

As you can see a lot of these tanks have writing on them as most of these snakes were for sale. You could even get baby ones which were the cutest thing ever!

Look at all these little baby snakes and teenager snakes! So cute I just want to cuddle each and every one.

The cafe is really cute. Similiar to most other animal cafes you pay an entrance fee of 1,000 YEN and you get a certain amount of time to take photos with the reptiles while you enjoy your drink.

Opening Hours are 12:00-22:00

My favourite part were these giant Iguanas that were just aimlessly wandering all over the store. Totally chill and relaxed just minding their own business.

Spot the iguanas. They liked to slot themselves into strange little spots like this, it was pretty funny watching them climb around.

Another completetly adorable snake that stole my heart. Such a little sweetheart and the prettiest pink colour. She had these tiny little red eyes as well which were so cute.

Snake reunion

This one was also super cuddly and friendly. And yes I am referring to a snake as cuddly because they totally are!

I swear these dudes ran the store. They were everywhere!

The most adorable little stub nosed snake you ever did see. Look at that little squished up nose, I simply died of cuteness overload here.

So pretty

Some snakes you couldn’t take out and these ones were clearly labeled on their cases. Like this one for example was labelled as aggressive but I don’t know. Those eyes look completely innocent.

There were snake skins everywhere from previous sheds and a couple of the snakes in the cafe were mid shed which was really fascinating to see.

I love seeing Chameleons in different countries, we don’t have them in Australia and I hate it. I want one so bad!

I almost completely missed these tortoises hiding out in the corner. If you do visit this cafe make sure you walk around and take everything in. All the animals seemed really calm and relaxed and were all just chilling out happy. Like these tortoises were just living their best lives under that heat lamp.

This place is crazy, there is so much to look at in such a short amount of time. They even had owls, which I thought was a bit of an odd choice to be hanging out alongside snakes but hey they seemed pretty content and relaxed.

More bebiesss

These guys were actually so hilarious to watch. They weren’t the most graceful reptiles I have ever seen. The legs in the pic below makes me laugh every time.

This was a really cool place and I would definitely recommend checking it out if you are like me and love snakes and reptiles. They are all really well looked after and a lot are for sale. I thought this place was really good as they rotated the snakes out a lot to ensure none were handled too much in one day. They seemed to really love their reptiles here and took good care of them. You can check out their website here.

Headed back to Book and Bed Tokyo for one last sleep in Osaka. I really love this hostel and spoke about it more in my last post. I only stayed a couple of nights here but I had such a good couple of sleeps for a hostel. The capsules are really well soundproofed I barely noticed when others entered and exited the room.

Last little camera charge before I check out and hang out in Osaka for a few hours before my flight to Seoul. They let me leave my suitcase at the hostel after check out which is always a life saver when travelling.

It was a beautiful sunny day and I went back to the main strip in Dotonbori to say my goodbyes to Osaka. I love this city and I actually prefer it to Tokyo. It’s a bit less crowded, the food is amazing and the vintage stores are way more affordable.

Plus I love the aesthetic of Dotonbori with its giant signs and animatronic sea creatures on all the walls. Everywhere you look there is some sort of colourful sign and whether its day or night the city always looks fun and exciting.

I won’t lie, I regret not getting this coin purse.

See you again soon Osaka, obsessed with you always.

Next up we are flying to Seoul for the first time ever!
