Continuing my solo adventures in Osaka, we are back at the Running Man sign for some touristy shots. Unsure what kind stranger took these for me but I do remember returning the favor. That’s a non negotiable of the tourist photo exchange. It is also my hack for not getting my camera or phone stolen, always ask the other tourists, especially couples, as they always want photos together.
You better believe I was being this cheesy and silly in front of a couple of complete strangers.
Obsessed with these photos because not only are my eyes BLUE and matching the background but for some reason I look like I have filler.
Sorry not sorry for the self love, I was just really feeling myself this day and the lighting gave me fillers for real.
I took photos of this place to remind me to come back later, stay tuned for upcoming blog post where I visit the Snake Cafe and fall head over heels for so many tiny slippery babies.
I went back to my hostel and had a rest/ got changed before heading out again to meet Lani and Blake at a Yakitori in the Main Street of Dotonbori. This place was underground and had really good skewers but we were a bit weirded out about the fact you can order raw chicken skewers. Not to cook just to eat as is.
These are some of the skewers you can order. As I mentioned in my last post with the offal bbq, I am a big fan of trying new things and eating all the weird meats. I can tell you from this menu that ones I would have definitely ordered are the heart, Breast Cartillage, Gizzard, Neck Meat, diaphragm, fallopian tubes and the Connecting vessel. I know we also order the chicken and green onions and the rump for Blake and Lani.
I wasn’t joking about the raw chicken..
We even saw some people eating it while we were there.

We ended up at a random British themed pub after for a few bevies and the menu was so entertaining.
Look closely at some of the side dishes. Have you ever heard of fried crispy pasta? Well you have now.

Japan at night is so beautiful. Feels like a completely different place with all the colorful lights and big signs. I really love taking photos at this time, it’s never too dark. It actually also makes the city feel really safe at night.
It’s so cool how accessible good quality meat is in Japan. Kobe beef on the street.
The next morning I embarked on another solo adventure. Starting off my day with this delicious and absolutely not healthy breakfast of Mitarashi Dango. They are traditional rice flour dumplings that are skewered on sticks and covered in a sweet soy sauce glaze. They are so delicious and I love the consistency.
Some more fun shops. Japanese stores are the absolute best kind of sensory overload.
The fact that none of the above photos are the same and there is just that much merchandise in the store in so crazy. Shopping in Japan is the absolute best. This is just a random store I stumbled across in a mall.
Went out for some more vintage store adventuring. Will try and list all the locations as best as I can. I did make an effort to get photos of the signs for most of them so I could remember for later.
Some places like this I didn’t get the name of but I know it is near the next store which is called Mill Wood. But sadly it looks like Mill Wood closed but at least I got some cute pics while it was still around.

This was a UNIF specific store that had a heap of YRU shoes which I became obsessed with on my last Japan trip. I bought myself a white pair and I still love them so much even though they are absolutely thrashed.

And we are back at this Yakitori that I mentioned in the previous post, told you I would be back.
They also serve Tsukemen but that is not why we are here, we are here for the SKEWWEERRRSS.
I actually tried so many of these it’s not even funny. I like that they serve it with lettuce. I didn’t come here to eat non meat items let’s be real. I ordered all of the chicken, beef and pork skewers minus the boring ones like sausage, thigh, and silverside. This was another lesson that I do not like intestines bit I will eat every other part of these animals.
I also ordered this delish pink alcoholic lemonade drink.

You can also smoke in a lot of these places so if you are a non smoker make sure you specify you want a non-smoking seat. They are usually very accommodating to all preferences so you can always enjoy yourself.

It looks like I spent so much here but I would have only spent $40AUD max including drinks. Yakitori’s are a great place to go when you want to try lots of different things in small amounts.
